Fort Welikit Family Campground and RV Park is a recent addition to the Customer area. Each of the 100 sites offers something for everyone. It may not offer the same amenities as the nearby Sturgis RV parks, but it does provide many of the same amenities you'd find at a quality campground. Its convenient location is a big plus. This is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Black Hills.
On the scenic Norbeck Highway, you will find Fort Welikit Family Campground/RV Park. This area is home to many amazing attractions. It is also a popular place for outdoor activities like skiing, fishing and golf. Hot Springs is home the Mammoth Site. The site contains interesting information about Pleistocene times. Hot Springs is home to the Wind Cave, the only cave that allows tours.
Apart from the numerous campsites, there is also a dog park as well as a small playground. The campground also has a grass volleyball court. An overhead shelter is available in the campground, which is an added bonus. There is also an overhead showerhouse.
You will find a variety of amenities in the campground including a dog run, laundry facilities, and a dump site. Access to the free Wi-Fi service at the campground is also possible. While it may not be the most reliable, the Wi-Fi will still keep you connected even when you're traveling. It might not work on all channels.
This park is close to many of the most popular attractions in the area, such as Badger Clark's historic site, Jewel Cave and Crazy Horse. The campground is located within one mile of Custer's main street, making it an easy trip to see the sights. You can also take the Crazy Horse bus to the park, which departs every half an hour.
Fort Welikit Family Campground was the only campground in the area to be awarded a "Great Service Star," by the South Dakota Department of Tourism. This award is to be given only to campgrounds that offer excellent service and provide a wide variety of amenities. This includes a fully fenced dog park, a picnic table, and even fire circles. This is a great spot to bike or hike.
During the summer, the park also hosts an annual event, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The campground is an ideal basecamp for those who are visiting the area to attend the Sturgis rally. If you're not into riding the big bikes, you can also try the many hiking trails or hit the links at nearby Black Bear Golf Course. It is also popular during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. You may want to reserve your spot quickly.
