Huntingdon's Lake Raystown Family Camping Resort is a location in Huntingdon. This 100-acre campground accommodates tent, RV, or cabin guests. It boasts a catch and released pond, free WiFi, 60 acres worth of walking trails, and free WiFi. There is also a marina and a golf course at the resort. If you are traveling with your pets, this is a great place to boogie with your canine companion.

The lake has two public beaches. The Seven Points is the ideal area to enjoy a sandy beach. A houseboat can be rented on the lake, or you can hire a fishing guide to take you out on water. A nice bonus is that the lake is also home to a number of museums filled with local history. Hesston Speedway, for those with a passion for racing, is a good choice.

There are several attractions within walking distance, including Trough Valley State Park, Allegrippis Trails and Whipple Dam State Park. All these are located within a short distance of the campground. In fact, the Allegrippis Trails is actually part of the larger Raystown Mountain Bike Skills Park. The park is small but offers some of best mountain biking trails in the entire state. The nearby Six Points and Mount Hermon ski areas are other places to visit and enjoy.

The lake's first-class campsites are close to the water. There are more than 250 campsites spread over 100 acres. Each site has the necessary amenities such as a fire ring and an electric fire pit. They are also close to the aforementioned allegrippis, namely the hiking and biking trails.

Obviously, you can't expect a luxury RV or a full service cabin at the resort. The good news is that you can get a decent room for the price. Also, there are a number of perks to the Raystown Lake Family Camping Resort, such as a catch and release pond, a marina, a swimming pool, and pet friendly rooms. Not to mention that the site is located on a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The lake is surrounded by over 21,000 acres of private land. Much of this land is owned by Army Corps of Engineers. The area is mostly protected from residential development, so it is clear that you have the best of both. Although there are a few houses that have been built, one unfortunately fell down the hill without warning. The resort also offers a dog-friendly area. Your pet must be kept on a 6-foot lead outside your vehicle.

The Raystown Lake Family Camping Resort has its fair share of gimmicks, but the best is that it's a fun place to stay. You have to be careful when choosing between this or the other tweeps around the area. But it's well worth the visit. It's also the only one of its type in the region.
